Sheriffs Report: Sheriff's Report through 7-23-2010
Anonymous writes "Matamoras area press releases through 07-23-2010:
At 0034 on 18 Jul 10 the Sheriff’s Office
responded to a call concerning Michael W. Leasure, age 18, 5380
SR 260, New Matamoras, OH had been transported to the Wetzel
County Hospital by the Antioch Squad where he had been pronounced
dead upon arrival. The investigation revealed Leasure had been
at the residence of Ethel Lamp, 318 Main Street, New Matamoras
where he began having seizures. Information received from witnesses
indicates Leasure had ingested at least one Saboxin and a Vicodin
pill earlier in the evening. Mr. Leasure’s body will be
transported to Charleston for an autopsy to determine the cause
of death. "

Sheriffs Report: Sheriff's Report through 7-16-2010

On 11 Jul 10 Robert L. Lohr, age 19, 817 Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras, reported he departed his locked residence at 1 am and when he drove past his home approximately four hours later he noticed lights were on inside. When he looked inside the home, Mr. Lohr said several rooms were ransacked and furniture was upended. Interviewing the other residents of the home, Deputy Sheriffs Reeder and Travaglio determined a DVD player, a Playstation, a .38 handgun, five gold and diamond necklaces and five gold rings were missing. This case remains under investigation. "

into the Washington County Jail last week:
Timothy Lee Erb, age 47, 1004 Grandview Avenue
Apt. A, New Matamoras, for a felony charge of
possession of
drugs and for misdemeanor charges of possession of
drugs and
possession of drug paraphernalia. Erb was arrested at
his residence
by Patrolman Travaglio of the New Matamoras Police
Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Jul
10 at
2:33 am."

On 27 Jun 10 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks requested a warrant for Keshia R.
Tillis, age 23, 34663 State Route 7, Pomeroy, for violating the terms of
a protection order. Earlier in the morning, Joshua R. Dunn, age 25, 611
Fourth Street, New Matamoras, reported Ms. Tillis phoned him in
violation of a protection order he obtained as a result of a prior
domestic dispute. Questioned by Deputy Smeeks, Ms. Tillis stated she
phoned Mr. Dunn because he phoned her first. Deputy Smeeks viewed Mr.
Dunn’s mobile phone call history and was unable to substantiate Ms.
Tillis’ claim."

On 21 Jun 10 Richard Poole, age 35, 13815 N.
Salvation Army Lane, Tampa, FL, reported he was
traveling through
Warren County, OH when he picked up a hitchhiker by
the name
of Ed, who said he was recently released from prison.
Mr. Poole
stated the two purchased alcohol and started drinking
at room
at the Aldeco Hotel in New Matamoras. Falling asleep
at around
9:30 pm, Mr. Poole said he awoke fifteen minutes later
and noticed
his silver 2002 Pontiac Grand Am and Ed were both
missing. Mr.
Poole inventoried his belongings and discovered $1,500
in cash
and a laptop computer were also missing. Mr. Poole
described
Ed as 5’ 10”, with short black hair and tattoos
of boxing gloves and dice on one of his arms. This
case remains
under investigation."

Drunk Boaters Target of Ohio’s Waterways Safety Enforcement
COLUMBUS
– As many as 70 State Watercraft officers, joined by U.S. Coast Guard
and local marine patrol officers, will participate in Operation Dry
Water June 25-27 to remove boaters impaired by alcohol and drugs from
state waterways, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources
(ODNR), Division of Watercraft.

transported Zachary A. Huntsman, age 19, 687 Long Run
Road,
Newport, to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment
to injuries
suffered in an ATV accident. Mr. Huntsman sustained
minor injuries
to his left ankle and the left side of his face when a
tire
on his ATV suddenly deflated and caused the vehicle to
roll
into a ditch. "

Leith Run - Free Kids Fishing Derby
Marietta, Ohio – On Saturday June 12th
community youngsters ages 2 to 16 are invited to come out to the Leith
Run Recreation Area on the Marietta Unit, Athens Ranger District to take
part in a free fishing derby. June 12th is National Get Outdoors Day.
The fishing derby supports the goals of America’s Great Outdoor
Initiative by actively supporting and encouraging use of outdoor spaces
by the public.
