The Oil Boom

During
the oil boom of the early 1900's, the Carter Oil Company led all others
in Southeastern Ohio. It was later bought out by the Pure Oil Company.
C.C. Stover was superintendent of Carter Oil. This photograph shows
one of the groups of drivers for Carter Oil, with Charlie "Grandad"
Carson in charge (second from left). The small boy is W.C. Carson, his
son.
